Overview

The upgraded Oittaa roller ski track now offers more than 3 km of paved skiing terrain, with the main loop extending to 2.75 km and featuring approximately 44 meters of elevation gain. The extension has transformed the track from a relatively short recreational circuit into one of the more interesting roller ski destinations in the Helsinki region.

Rolling terrain

Oittaa is characterized by rolling terrain that keeps skiing varied and engaging from start to finish. Rather than relying on long, repetitive climbs or extended flat sections, the track combines gentle ascents, flowing transitions, technical corners, and several enjoyable descents. The new section introduces a notably faster character, including one of the quickest descents found on a public roller ski track outside Finland’s dedicated elite training centers.

A steep descent

Located next to Lake Bodom, Oittaa is one of the most popular outdoor recreation areas in the Helsinki region. The site offers ample parking, a beach, cafés, and a variety of recreational facilities, making it a convenient destination for both training sessions and family outings. A refreshing swim in the lake after a hard workout is just a short walk away.

The asphalt surface is in excellent condition and provides a smooth skiing experience throughout the track. Even after rainfall, the track drains well and offers reliable grip.

Oittaa’s natural surroundings are part of its appeal. The track winds through a scenic forest environment where deer are occasional visitors and can sometimes be spotted near the route, adding a touch of wildlife to an already enjoyable training venue: Furry guests
